At Lumber River Football Club (LRFC), our mission is simple:
create a clear pathway for players in our community to grow, compete, and reach their highest potential in the game of soccer.

For many families, youth soccer can feel confusing. There are recreation leagues, travel teams, state leagues, and national programs. Parents often ask:

The LRFC Player Pathway was designed to answer those questions.

Our structure creates a step-by-step development model, allowing players to start locally and progress toward higher levels of competition if they choose.

The Foundation: Recreation Soccer

Every journey starts somewhere.

For LRFC, that beginning is our Recreation Program.

Recreation soccer focuses on:

The Next Step: NCYSA Classic (Travel Soccer)

For players who want to train more and compete at a higher level, the next step in the pathway is NCYSA Classic Soccer.

LRFC Classic teams compete in the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) league system against clubs from across the state.

Lumber River Football Club is proud to announce the launch of its Elite ODP Sponsorship Program , a new initiative designed to support the advancement of high-performing players to state-level identification through the North Carolina Olympic Development Program (ODP).

For many families, opportunities beyond local competition can feel distant or inaccessible. This program reflects LRFC’s commitment to ensuring that talented players in Southeastern North Carolina are not limited by geography or financial barriers.

What Is the Olympic Development Program (ODP)?

The Olympic Development Program is a nationally recognized talent identification system operated by state associations under U.S. Youth Soccer. Players selected through ODP evaluations train and compete alongside top players from across their state and region, with opportunities to advance to regional and national identification events.

Participation in ODP is widely regarded as a significant milestone for players pursuing higher levels of competition, including collegiate and elite pathways.

How the LRFC Elite ODP Sponsorship Program Works

Each year, Lumber River FC will identify a select group of our high-performing Travel and Classic players to receive full sponsorship for ODP evaluation events.

300+ PLAYERS JOINING OUR FALL REC PROGRAM

We are excited to announce that over 300 parents and players have registered for our Fall Recreation Program this coming fall.

This is one of our record registrations, and as we continue to grow as a program and look to develop a special club for Robeson County, this milestone will set another standard of performance for our club.

We have players from all areas of Robeson County, as well as some from neighboring counties. As we continue to partner with UNC Health Southeastern, the City of Lumberton Parks and Rec, the Town of Red Springs, United Bank and others, will keep pushing the game of soccer forward for our community.

We are already looking forward to the start of a great Fall Recreation season, and want to thank all of our players, families, parents, and coaches that will make this program a success.

We have also already published the ' Schedule ' page for all our Recreation games for those that are wanting to keep a look at what's going on in the league, or maybe even attend a game!

Spring Recreation Season Concludes with a Champion.

What an exhilarating end to the LRFC Spring Recreation season on April 25, 2025! We had an amazing celebration of our champions that will be remembered! �� LRFC Black triumphantly wrapped up the tournament with a fantastic 4th place finish, while LRFC Grey proudly snatched up the 3rd place medals. And in an electrifying championship battle, LRFC Yellow went head-to-head with LRFC White, who soared to victory and took home the stunning gold 1st place medals! What a match! Meanwhile, LRFC Yellow celebrated their silver 2nd place awards with pride!

The excitement was palpable as players and families came together for an unforgettable night brimming with soccer fun! We can hardly contain our enthusiasm as we look ahead to another thrilling season this Fall! With the addition of the City of Lumberton's Recreation Soccer program, we are all set for an incredible season ahead!

Boys finish season ahead of NCFCY in U17 2nd Division

The U17 boys of LRFC White are headed to the top. After a dominant run through their Spring 2025 campaign, the squad has officially earned promotion to the 1st Division of the North Carolina Classic Soccer League (NCCSL) — a major milestone in the club’s competitive journey.

Led by Kevin Locklear, LRFC White finished the season with an impressive record, showcasing grit, discipline, and a fluid attacking style that overwhelmed their opponents. From key wins against top-tier rivals to standout performances from both veterans and rising stars, the team’s consistency was unmatched.

“This group came into the season with something to prove,” said Kevin. “They showed up, put in the work, and earned every bit of this promotion.”
